Fulton County schools have been allocated over $73,000 for safety enhancements through the state's Secured School Safety Grant Program, supported by State Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen).

Jordan noted that this funding is part of the biennial budget passed in 2023, which significantly invested in school safety. Across Indiana's 92 counties, a total of 499 schools received $24 million in state matching grants.

"There are many layers to school security and each facility can present its own challenges," Jordan stated. "These state matching grant dollars help schools support a wide range of safety upgrades to meet their needs and it's great to see schools in our area take advantage of this opportunity."

Among the local beneficiaries, Caston School Corp. received $36,450, while Rochester Community School Corp. was awarded $37,260.

The funds can be utilized for various safety needs including resource officers, equipment and technology upgrades, active-event warning systems, threat assessments, and student and parent support services programs. Since its inception in 2013, Indiana has allocated $187 million for school safety matching grants.
