Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff during periods of extreme weather, particularly high humidity and heat. Despite all IPS buildings being air-conditioned, the district has outlined several measures to mitigate heat-related risks.

The strategies include monitoring and optimizing ventilation systems, adjusting schedules to avoid peak heat times when necessary, providing access to hydration stations, and closely observing students and staff for signs of heat-related distress.

The district also provided specific guidance for parents:

"IPS remains dedicated to providing a safe, conducive, and inclusive learning environment. We appreciate the support of our community and remain steadfast in our commitment to adapting to the challenges presented by changing weather patterns."
