Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to State Reps. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) and Chris May (R-Bedford).
Bartels stated that the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full-time, Monday through Friday.
"Students can apply for a Statehouse internship and earn valuable real-world experience," Bartels said. "An opportunity like this is a vital addition to a resume and often kickstarts an individual's professional career."
May noted that internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns receive free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.
"Students with all different types of academic backgrounds can apply to the Statehouse internship program," May said. "The position can boost their skills including communication, research and critical thinking."
Internships are available for college students and recent graduates of all majors. Benefits include free parking, career development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, opportunities for academic credit through their educational institutions, and eligibility for a competitive $3,000 scholarship toward undergraduate or graduate expenses.
The program provides opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, such as legislative operations, policy, and communications. Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and must be submitted by Oct. 31.
