U.S. Senator Todd Young has commended the passage of the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act by the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee earlier this month. The bipartisan legislation, introduced by Senator Young alongside Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), aims to enhance cybersecurity measures within the healthcare sector.

“I am pleased that this bill to improve cybersecurity in health care received strong support at the committee level, and I urge the full Senate to pass this bipartisan bill soon,” said Senator Young.

The initiative comes in response to a significant rise in cyberattacks on hospitals and other healthcare facilities across Indiana and the United States. The Healthcare Cybersecurity Act seeks to fortify cybersecurity infrastructure within the healthcare and public health sectors, aiming to better protect patients' personal data from such attacks.

The bill passed through the committee with a vote of 10-1 and now awaits consideration by the full Senate.
