State Reps. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) and Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville) have been appointed to serve on interim study committees, which will convene throughout the summer and fall to examine policy issues and identify potential solutions.

Legislators will gather testimony from the public, experts, and stakeholders as they prepare bill recommendations for the budget session in January.

Patterson will participate in the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation and the Interim Study Committee on Environmental Affairs. "I look forward to serving on these committees and working with my colleagues on a number of issues, and I remain focused on finding ways we can continue to improve roads, especially in rural communities like ours," Patterson said. “Taking time in the summer and fall to study these topics helps us decide if new legislation should be presented during session.”

Criswell will also serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation. "Lawmakers work year-round to identify and address challenges affecting Hoosiers," Criswell said. "Summer study committees are just another aspect of the important work done throughout the year that allow us to take a closer look at issues, collaborate with policy experts, and hear from the public. Our constituents expect and deserve results, which is why these committees are a great way to lay the groundwork for new legislation."

The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members can be found online. Committee hearings typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis and can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
