Day Two of the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament Features @ButlerUWBB vs. Binghamton
The Bulldogs will look for another win today when they face the Binghamton Bearcats at 2 PM. Butler defeated Sacred Heart 64-39 on day one of the tournament and the Bearcats dropped a 51-41 decision to Florida Atlantic.

Scouting Binghamton
Binghamton moved to 4-2 on the year after taking a 51-41 setback to Florida Atlantic Friday afternoon. The Bearcats were limited to just 16 first half points, scoring eight in both the first and second quarters. Denai Bowman and Ella Wanzer combined for 24 of the team's 41 points. Bowman made seven field goals and added four rebounds and two steals. The Bearcats have wins over Bloomsburg (63-46), Army (76-61), Pittsburgh at Johnston (71-45) and Canisius (75-72). Their other setback came at Syracuse (92-59) on Nov. 14. Head Coach Bethann Shapriro Ord is in her fourth season with the program. She previously spent seven years at Weber State.
Butler vs. Sacred Heart Recap (11/25)
The Bulldogs are now 3-2 on the year after posting a 64-39 win over Sacred Heart in the first game of the 2022 Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament. Butler shot 44 percent (23-52) from the floor and limited the Pioneers to just 26 percent shooting (16-60). Jessica Carrothers led Butler in the scoring column with a game-high 17 points. She hit six of her seven field goal attempts and added five rebounds to her stat line in just under 17 minutes of action.
Bulldog Bench Points
The Butler bench has scored at least 27 points in every contest this year. BU reserves accounted for 45 of 84 points in the opener vs. Chicago State and most recently scored 37 of BU's 64 points vs. Sacred Heart.
Winning Recipe
Butler is 3-0 this year when they shoot more free throws than their opponent. The 'Dawgs are also undefeated when holding the opposition under 60 points.
Tournament Action
This is Butler's first tournament action since the 2019-20 season. That year, Butler participated in the Daytona Tournament. They were defeated by Georgia in game one, but bounced back to collect at 60-55 win over Ohio the next day.

Butler has six players on the roster with at least three made 3-pointers. The 'Dawgs shoot 36 percent from behind the arc and are led from distance by Rachel McLimore (7-15).

Carrothers Contributing
BU freshman Jessica Carrothers leads the team with 12 assists early in the 2022-23 season. She is also the team leader in steals with seven. The backup point guard only has six turnovers in 98 minutes of action. Her scoring production is also trending up. Carrothers is 15-for-17 from the free throw line over her last three games and has shot 14-for-19 from the field. During that stretch, she has scored 14, 13 and a career-high 17 points to average 14.6 points per game. Her season average rests at 10.0
Guard The Line
The Bulldogs have defended the 3-point line very well this season resulting in the opposition shooting just 25 percent from 3-point range. Yesterday's contest was a prime example. Sacred Heart made just three of their 22 attempts vs. BU accounting for 13.6 percent.
