Lily Cridge runs to second place in nationals

Bishop Chatard High School recently issued the following announcement.

Congratulations to BCHS junior Lily Cridge, as she finished second in the Garmin Running Lane National Meet in Huntsville, AL, on Dec. 4, 2021. She ran the 5000m course in 16 minutes, 22.81 seconds.

The previous girls Indiana cross country record was 16:52.25, set by Mishawaka’s Anna Rohrer in 2015.

Lily’s previous best was 17:04.6 at the Shelbyville Semistate on Oct. 23. Lily won the 2021 state cross country title on Oct. 30, 2021, at Terre Haute, winning by 31 seconds in a time of 17:32.7 on a slow, rain-soaked course.

The winner of the national race, Natalie Cook from Flower Mound, TX, won the event with a time of 16:03.93. The top twenty in the nationals all ran under 17 minutes.
