André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, has recently taken to social media to voice concerns about state and federal policy decisions impacting his constituents. In a series of posts made on November 3 and 4, Carson highlighted issues ranging from proposed changes to congressional districts in Indiana to the handling of federal nutrition assistance programs.

On November 3, Carson criticized the timing and motivation behind an upcoming legislative session in Indiana: "Indiana lawmakers will convene on Dec 1 to unfairly redraw our congressional districts 5 years early. Just last week, my office helped an Indy resident get back $10,000 in Social Security. This is the type of work my office does every day—and what's at risk with this blatant https://t.co/wQb06sC6bw". Carson has represented Indiana's 7th District since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008 and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council.

Later that day, he addressed actions by the Trump administration regarding Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding: "The Trump administration has the funds to FULLY sustain SNAP through November. But he’s only funding it partially, doing the bare minimum to satisfy a court order. He’s playing politics with children’s hunger, and it’s despicable." The following day, Carson provided an update on the situation: "UPDATE: Trump backtracked and threatened to refuse to release any SNAP funds. Then the White House backtracked on Trump's backtrack. He has the funds. He has a court order. The Trump administration must ensure 22 million children don't go hungry. https://t.co/UiPvl5ShQs"

Carson was born in Indianapolis in 1974 and continues to reside there today. He earned his bachelor's degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2003.
