State Representative Kyle Pierce recently conducted a listening tour in House District 36, engaging with local business owners, leaders, and constituents. The initiative aimed to gather insights and address community needs.
"Our district's hardworking business owners and local leaders play a vital role in creating jobs and strengthening our community," Pierce stated. "I’m committed to ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to thrive."
The tour commenced in Alexandria at Megawatt's Bitcoin mining facility. During the visit, Pierce met with CEO Ilya Rekhter and Facilities Supervisor Wayne Highfield. They discussed their operations and the broader cryptocurrency market. Pierce found the tour informative, gaining insight into this emerging industry.
Pierce then visited the Christian Center in Anderson, a faith-based nonprofit shelter founded in 1955. The center provides essential services such as meals, shelter, haircuts, and clothing for those in need. It also runs a Men's Recovery Program focused on addiction recovery through counseling and education.
Rob Spaulding, executive director of the Christian Center, guided Pierce through various facilities including the community dining room and Red Door Vintage & Thrift shop. The shop offers vouchers for individuals unable to afford items. Plans for renovating buildings into a women's program were also shared with Pierce.
"As we begin a new year and legislative session, I look forward to making progress together to strengthen our communities, accelerate our local economy and improve the lives of Hoosiers in our district," said Pierce.
The tour concluded with discussions with local leaders about district plans and strategies for community improvements.
