Applications are now open for the Indiana House Page Program during the 2025 legislative session at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Porter County lawmakers have announced that Hoosier students aged 13 to 18 are invited to participate.
State Representative Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) emphasized the educational benefits of the program, stating, "The page program is an amazing opportunity for students to get a firsthand look at the legislative process they learn about in school." He encouraged eligible students to join legislators and staff for a day at the Statehouse.
Students interested in participating can find applications and available dates on IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram. The legislative session runs from January 8 through April 29, 2025.
State Representative Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) also supports student involvement, saying, "With the House page program, students can experience the lawmaking process alongside their local legislators." She looks forward to meeting students from House District 19 and sharing her work with them.
According to State Representative Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron), pages will have opportunities on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Large groups can attend on Wednesdays by contacting the page program director. Aylesworth remarked on the value of this initiative: "The student page program is such a great opportunity for young Hoosiers to learn about government by actually participating in session."
Participants must arrange their own lunch and transportation to Indianapolis.
