Applications are now open for the Indiana House Page Program for the 2025 legislative session at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, as announced by Lake County legislators.

State Representative Hal Slager from Schererville stated that students aged 13 to 18 are invited to participate. The program offers a chance to assist lawmakers and staff, tour the Indiana Statehouse, and observe legislative sessions.

"From sitting in on session to working alongside Statehouse staff, the page program is a unique experience that students should not miss out on," Slager said. "All students can benefit from meeting with lawmakers and witnessing how laws are made."

The application process is available online at IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram. It includes information about available days during the legislative session, which runs from January 8 to April 29.

"With the House page program, students can experience the lawmaking process alongside their local legislators," commented State Representative Julie Olthoff of Crown Point. "I love meeting students from House District 19 and showing them the ins and outs of what I do at the Statehouse during session."

State Representative Michael Aylesworth from Hebron mentioned that interested students could page on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the session. They will receive an excused absence from school for participating. Large groups have an opportunity to join on Wednesdays only. To arrange group participation, contact details include calling 317-232-9410 or emailing pageprogram@iga.in.gov.

"The student page program is such a great opportunity for young Hoosiers to learn about government by actually participating in session," Aylesworth said. "Eligible students should sign up for the opportunity to meet their local lawmakers and explore the Statehouse."

Participants need to arrange their own lunch and transportation to and from Indianapolis.
