Applications are now open for the Indiana House Page Program for the 2025 legislative session at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hancock County lawmakers are encouraging students to apply.
State Representative Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) announced that Hoosier students aged 13 to 18 can participate by assisting lawmakers and staff, touring the Indiana Statehouse, and observing legislative sessions. "Being a page is not only a way for students to learn up close how government works, but they can also meet their state representative and work in a professional environment," Criswell stated. He hopes students from his district will take advantage of this opportunity.
State Representative Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) highlighted that applications are available on IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram, with the legislative session running from January 8 to April 29, 2025. "Learning about Indiana's government early on can leave a huge impact, especially when students have a front row seat to the lawmaking process," Jeter said. He looks forward to meeting young Hoosiers from his district.
State Representative Ethan Lawson (R-Greenfield) mentioned that interested students could page on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the session, receiving an excused absence from school. Large groups may participate on Wednesdays only by contacting the page program director at 317-232-9410 or pageprogram@iga.in.gov. Lawson expressed enthusiasm about welcoming students: "This program allows young Hoosiers to see state government in action and learn more about how decisions are made that shape our communities."
Students participating in the program must arrange their own lunch and transportation to and from the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
