As the 2025 legislative session approaches, Washington County lawmakers are urging Hoosiers to participate in online surveys to provide feedback on pressing issues. Residents can access these surveys by visiting their state representative's webpage and selecting the "Take My Survey" option.
The webpages for Washington County representatives are as follows:
- State Rep. Karen Engleman (R-Georgetown), House District 70: in.gov/h70
- State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour), House District 69: in.gov/h69
- State Rep. Chris May (R-Bedford), House District 65: in.gov/h65
State Rep. Karen Engleman stated, "As legislators prepare for the upcoming session, these surveys offer an easy way for Hoosiers to let them know about the topics most important to them." She expressed her hope to hear from residents of House District 70 to better represent local communities.
To complete a survey, individuals must reside within the district and submit their responses by December 31. Constituents can verify their district by visiting the Indiana General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov and using the "Find Your Legislator" feature.
State Rep. Jim Lucas emphasized, "Being a representative means being the voice of your constituents at the Statehouse." He encouraged his district's residents to share their concerns through the survey for more effective representation during sessions.
The legislative session will commence on January 8 and is scheduled to conclude by April 29. Information on proposed legislation and livestreams of committee hearings will be available at iga.in.gov.
State Rep. Chris May added, "I encourage the Hoosiers I represent at the Statehouse to provide feedback heading into session and stay engaged throughout the process." He noted that surveys help legislators understand constituent issues better and seek potential solutions.
