State Representative Garrett Bascom, a Republican from Lawrenceburg, has been appointed to serve on three significant House committees. Bascom, who was elected in November for his first term, will be part of the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Local Government Committee.

"Indiana relies on an efficient and balanced court system, and these committees are at the forefront of considering legislation to further improve our state's legal infrastructure," said Bascom. "I'm ready to hit the ground running and bring my experiences from state government and private practice to these new appointments."

The Indiana House Speaker makes committee appointments biennially after the November election. These appointments last for the duration of members' two-year terms.

House lawmakers are set to meet at 1:30 p.m. on January 8 for the start of the 2025 legislative session. Residents can visit iga.in.gov to access legislation details, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and sessions.

Bascom encourages constituents to visit in.gov/h68 to sign up for e-newsletter updates about activities at the Statehouse during the legislative session and beyond.

State Rep. Garrett Bascom represents House District 68, which includes all of Dearborn, Ohio, and Switzerland counties, as well as a portion of Jefferson County.
