Northeast Indiana legislators have been appointed to serve on significant House standing committees at the Statehouse. These appointments, made by the Indiana House Speaker, are effective for the two-year terms of the members.

State Representative David Abbott (R-Rome City) has been named vice chair of the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee. He will also be a member of both the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee. Abbott stated, "Government operations should prioritize serving the public and promoting transparency," adding his commitment to "eliminate regulatory obstacles and advocate for Hoosiers."

Newly elected State Representative Tony Isa (R-Angola) will participate in three committees: the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee, House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, and the House Public Health Committee. Isa emphasized the importance of committee work: "Committees play a vital role in reviewing bills and hearing feedback from Hoosiers on the challenges they face." He looks forward to collaborating with fellow lawmakers.

State Representative Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) continues as chair of the House Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee. Additionally, he will serve on several other committees including Elections and Appointment, Joint Rules, and Ways and Means. Smaltz highlighted election security as a priority: "Ensuring election security is crucial, and Indiana continues to strengthen efforts and safeguard our elections."
