State Representatives Matt Lehman and Lorissa Sweet have been appointed to serve on key House standing committees at the Indiana Statehouse. These appointments, made by the Indiana House Speaker, occur biennially after the November election and last for members' two-year terms.

Representative Lehman will be a member of the House Insurance Committee, House Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee, and the House Public Policy Committee. He expressed his commitment to addressing issues faced by constituents. "These committees are the starting point in tackling issues that constituents are facing to ensure their voices are heard," Lehman stated. He looks forward to examining policy areas impacting his district during the 2025 legislative session, particularly economic development and healthcare access.

Representative Sweet will join the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee, and Local Government Committee. She is eager to explore various topics beneficial for Hoosiers. "This legislative session, we will be diving into a number of different topics to explore the best options for Hoosiers," Sweet said. She emphasized her support for farmers and vulnerable populations at the Statehouse.

Sweet also noted that committees play a crucial role in vetting bills through public testimony hearings and amendment considerations.

The first day of the 2025 legislative session is scheduled for January 8 at 1:30 p.m., where lawmakers will convene. The public can access legislation details, calendars, committee meetings, and sessions online at iga.in.gov.
