U.S. Senator Todd Young of Indiana addressed the Senate, critiquing the Biden Administration's foreign policy and outlining steps for future global leadership. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Young highlighted events over the past four years that he believes have led to global instability.

He referenced the Taliban's return to power in Afghanistan in 2021 as a significant event marking a decline in security. According to Young, "The Biden Administration’s botched withdrawal cost the lives of 13 brave, patriotic American service members." He stated that this event signaled weakness to adversaries such as Moscow, Tehran, and Beijing.

Young also pointed out the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, noting that while the U.S. has supported Ukraine rhetorically and with some assistance, it has not enabled them to win. He criticized what he described as "foot dragging" by the administration in providing necessary support.

In discussing Middle Eastern conflicts, Young accused President Biden of repeating mistakes from previous administrations by loosening sanctions on Iran. He claimed this led to increased aggression from Iran-backed groups like Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel.

Further criticism was directed at President Biden's handling of relations with China. Young mentioned a Chinese surveillance balloon incident as an example of failed deterrence efforts. "President Biden failed to provide answers to the American people about that situation," he said.

Young concluded his speech by calling for renewed U.S. leadership on the world stage alongside former President Trump and his incoming administration. He emphasized rebuilding military readiness and encouraging allies to invest more in their defense capabilities. Economic innovation at home was also highlighted as crucial for maintaining global influence.

"Leadership comes with a price," Young remarked, but added that it also brings rewards necessary for ensuring stability worldwide.
