State Representatives J.D. Prescott and Elizabeth Rowray have announced that Indiana's local communities will soon benefit from new road and bridge projects, thanks to state funding. This funding is part of the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, which supports infrastructure improvements such as road reconstruction, bridge preservation, and intersection enhancements.

A total of 223 communities across Indiana are set to receive over $139 million in state matching grants. "These grants are critical to our communities as they address costly and growing infrastructure needs," stated Rep. Prescott. He emphasized that better roads lead to safer access for school, work, and other activities.

The recipients of these grants include Albany with $80,722; Daleville with $168,708; Delaware County receiving $524,214; Eaton granted $83,163; and Yorktown awarded $722,185.

"This financial support helps Hoosier cities, towns and counties tackle infrastructure projects that reduce risks and improve travel," said Rep. Rowray. She expressed enthusiasm about the positive changes these funds would bring to various communities.

To be eligible for the grant program, smaller municipalities must provide a 25 percent match in local funds while larger ones must provide a 50 percent match. According to state law, half of the available matching funds must be awarded annually to communities within counties having populations of 50,000 or fewer. Since its inception in 2016, Community Crossings has allocated more than $1.8 billion for local road and bridge improvements.
