State Representatives Stephen Bartels and Karen Engleman, along with other local lawmakers, have recognized Dr. John Click, a dentist and community volunteer from Floyd County, by presenting him with the Sagamore of the Wabash award. This prestigious honor is given to distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to the state of Indiana.
Dr. Click has been practicing dentistry for 38 years in Milltown and is noted for his pro bono work in Crawford County. He also volunteered with Freed from Within ministry, providing dental care to recently released offenders in Harrison County.
"Dr. Click is a prime example of how one person can make an extraordinary impact in their community," said Representative Engleman. "His efforts to provide care for multiple surrounding counties, especially to those who are most in need, are invaluable."
In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Click served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1998 to 2006 and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his achievements and service.
"Dr. Click has lived an outstanding life of service from the military to supporting and caring for our local residents through his dental practice," stated Representative Bartels.
Currently, Dr. Click volunteers with animal control services, the American Cancer Society, and serves as president of the local fire board in Floyd County.
The Sagamore of the Wabash award dates back to the 1940s and was created by former Governor Ralph Gates as Indiana's highest civilian honor.
