The deadline for applying to the Indiana House Republican internship for the 2025 legislative session is approaching. According to area lawmakers, applications must be submitted by October 31. The full-time internship will take place during the spring semester from January to April at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.

House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) described the internship as an opportunity for young Hoosiers to develop skills and explore different careers. "Developing skills through an internship is essential for young Hoosiers to gain experience and explore different careers," Huston said. Interns will earn $900 biweekly and may receive academic credit from their college or university.

State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply online before the deadline. "Interns get to network with lawmakers, business owners and other professionals in the public and private sectors from around the state," Jeter said.

State Rep. Chuck Goodrich (R-Noblesville) highlighted additional benefits such as free parking, career development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and eligibility for a $3,000 scholarship. "Hands-on learning opportunities like internships not only boost students' resumes but also help them develop tangible skills that can translate to any career path," Goodrich stated.

State Rep. Donna Schaibley (R-Carmel) noted that interns could work in various departments related to their studies including legislative operations, policy, and communications. "This program provides unique opportunities for young professionals to develop their skills and learn more about different policy and public service," Schaibley mentioned.

State Rep. Jerry Torr (R-Carmel) emphasized the value of combining education with internship experience for future employment prospects. "A strong education paired with an internship experience makes a graduate even more marketable to future employers," Torr said.

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and must be submitted by October 31.
