Applications for internships with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, announced State Representatives Craig Haggard (R-Mooresville) and Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville).
Haggard explained that the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will begin in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full-time, Monday through Friday.
"Statehouse internships offer a unique perspective on the legislative process and the workings of state government," Haggard stated. "We're eager to welcome enthusiastic students who want to make a difference in Indiana."
Mayfield noted that internships are available to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns receive free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.
"Serving as a House intern is a great way to gain practical experience in public service," Mayfield said. "We invite students who are passionate about making a positive impact to apply for our 2025 program."
The program provides opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy, and communications. Interns can also apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
