Henry County legislators recently received appointments to serve on interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and work together to identify solutions. Legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts, and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.

State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) will serve as chair of three committees including the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services, the Health Care Cost Oversight Task Force, and the Medicaid Oversight Committee. He will also serve as a member of the Medicaid Advisory Commission and its Standing Fiscal Subcommittee.

“As a retired physician, improving public health and access to affordable care has always been a priority, and I look forward to serving on these committees,” Barrett said. “For the next few months, our committees will study crucial issues that impact Hoosiers in our area and across the state. I look forward to working with others and our constituents to prepare for next year's legislative session.”

State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation.

"Lawmakers work year-round to identify and address challenges affecting Hoosiers," Criswell said. "Summer study committees are just another aspect of the important work done throughout the year that allow us to take a closer look at issues, collaborate with policy experts, and hear from the public. Our constituents expect and deserve results, which is why these committees are a great way to lay the groundwork for new legislation."

State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) will serve as a member of the Corn Marketing Council and the Interim Study Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
