Metropolitan School District recently issued the following announcement.
Garden City Elementary’s students now have a renovated media center!
The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation and the 2022 CFP Indianapolis Host Committee hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated center, now a “makerspace,” November 17.
Funding from the CFP Foundation and Indianapolis Host Committee, along with a partnership with the company School Specialty, supported new supplies for the space, which is designed to engage students in hands-on learning activities. The new supplies include circuit starters and engineering kits, along with art supplies such as Play-Doh and Kinetic Sand.
“Our makerspace is designed to help prepare students for 21st-century jobs, which require an understanding of science, technology, engineering, art and math,” said Garden City Elementary Principal Virginia Poindexter. “It also makes learning fun. We’re grateful for the support of the CFP Foundation and the Indianapolis Host Committee for making possible these new investments in our school and our students.”
In support of the CFP Foundation and its mission to uplift teachers grades K-12, the 2022 Indianapolis Host Committee has committed $1.5 million of investment in legacy programming leading up to the 2022 national championship game, to be held at Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday, January 10, 2022.
