State Representative Alaina Shonkwiler welcomed students from Noblesville High School and Guerin Catholic High School to the Indiana Statehouse on February 24, 2026. The visit was part of Aim Youth Legislative Day, an event organized by the AIM Youth Councils Network.

The program is designed to encourage students to engage with local government and foster future civic leaders through legislative days and leadership development opportunities. “The AIM Youth Councils Network encourages students to get involved in local government and inspire the next generation of civic leaders by hosting legislative days and leadership development programs,” according to a statement provided at the event.

Rep. Shonkwiler represents House District 29, which includes a portion of Hamilton County.

Speaker Todd Huston has also contributed to civic leadership in Indiana through his involvement on education boards and community commissions, as noted on the Indiana House Republicans website. Huston’s work includes expanding Indiana’s Choice Scholarship program and championing tax relief measures as well as school choice initiatives. He has served as state representative since 2012, resides in Fishers with his family, and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University.
