“What we outline in the report that we released today is that biotechnology is a critical sector with national security and economic competition implications, and the Chinese are indeed catching up,” stated Senator Young. He noted that China is making significant investments in biotechnology, stressing, “the U.S. cannot afford to get left behind.”
Young warned of the risks posed by America’s reliance on China for essential supplies. “Our dangerous dependence on China for our most critical supplies makes us vulnerable. We need to promote American innovation and manufacturing in biotech to end China’s global supply chain grip,” he added.
