State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) welcomed Terre Haute resident Lydia Grant, a student at Clay City Jr./Sr. High School, to the Statehouse where she participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2026 legislative session, according to a May 18 announcement.

The page program allows students to observe state government and legislative processes firsthand. This experience is designed for students interested in learning more about how laws are made and how government operates.

“There’s no substitute for seeing the legislation process up close,” Heaton said. “The page program offers that experience firsthand.”

During her day as a page, Grant interacted with lawmakers and session staff, toured the Statehouse, and joined Heaton on the House floor to watch legislative proceedings.

Information about serving as a page for students ages 13 to 18 during future sessions is available at indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram.

Heaton represents House District 46, which includes all of Owen County and portions of Clay, Monroe, and Vigo counties.
