State Rep. Chris Judy of Fort Wayne has been awarded the R. Martin Umbarger President’s Award by the National Guard Association of Indiana (NGAI). The accolade was presented during NGAI’s annual conference, acknowledging Judy’s dedication to Indiana’s National Guard and military community.

The award is given to individuals who show exceptional leadership, dedication, and service to the United States, its Armed Forces, or NGAI. Judy, a veteran of the Indiana National Guard with service in Iraq as a combat medic in 2008, has been recognized for his efforts to enhance military readiness and improve conditions for servicemembers and veterans in Indiana.

“It’s an incredible honor to receive this award from the National Guard Association of Indiana,” said Judy. “Supporting active servicemembers and veterans is one of my top priorities, and I remain committed to advocating for the men and women who serve our great state and nation.”

Judy serves on the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee. He has played a role in creating legislation aimed at providing property tax relief for disabled veterans, expanding educational benefits access, and increasing investment in military infrastructure.

The R. Martin Umbarger President’s Award is named after Indiana’s retired Adjutant General and represents one of NGAI’s highest recognitions for those who exceed expectations in their service.
