State Representative Becky Cash visited St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center in downtown Indianapolis on May 13, where she toured the facility with Michelle Radomsky, the center’s executive director.
The visit highlights ongoing efforts to address childcare needs for working families and employers in Indiana. Childcare access and affordability remain key concerns for both employees and businesses across the state.
Cash authored House Enrolled Act 1177 during the 2026 legislative session, which expands eligibility for Indiana’s employer childcare tax credit to companies with up to 500 employees. Under this law, businesses can receive credits if they operate their own childcare facility or contract with a provider to offer care for employees’ children. The credit may be used toward costs such as running a childcare facility, staff training, and increasing wages for childcare workers.
By expanding eligibility for this tax credit, lawmakers aim to make it easier for more employers to support their workforce through accessible child care options.
As these changes take effect, observers will watch how expanded tax credits impact both local businesses and families seeking quality early childhood education.
