State Representative Kyle Pierce welcomed Rilla and James Stuart, homeschooled students from Anderson, to the Indiana Statehouse on March 24 as participants in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2026 legislative session.
The program gives young people a chance to learn about state government by experiencing it firsthand. It aims to encourage civic engagement among youth by providing opportunities to observe and participate in legislative activities.
“The House Page Program offers a hands-on way for young Hoosiers to experience the legislative process at the Indiana Statehouse,” Pierce said. “It was a pleasure to welcome Rilla and James and see their enthusiasm for learning more about how the Indiana House of Representatives serves our communities.”
During their visit, Rilla and James interacted with lawmakers and staff, toured the historic building, and joined Pierce on the House floor where they watched legislation being considered.
The announcement comes as other leaders continue their involvement in civic education. Huston contributed to civic leadership through service on education boards and community commissions in Indiana, per the Indiana House Republicans website. He expanded Indiana’s Choice Scholarship program, earning recognition for school choice advocacy according to the same source. Huston also championed measures for tax relief and school choice in Indiana. He resides in Fishers with his wife Denise and two adult children. Huston has served as state representative since his first election in 2012, after earning a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University.
Students ages 13 to 18 interested in serving as pages during future sessions can find more information at indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram.
