As the 2025 legislative session in Indiana concludes, several pieces of legislation have been passed. Among them is House Enrolled Act 1041, which “ensures that biological men cannot compete in female sports at the post-secondary level in the state of Indiana.” This legislation aligns with federal and state-level executive orders and was previously legislated at the K-12 level in 2022.

Another legislative accomplishment is House Concurrent Resolution 2, which “urges INDOT to rename a section of U.S. 31 after fallen Indiana State Police Trooper Aaron N. Smith of Franklin.” This honor serves as a tribute to Trooper Smith’s sacrifice and service.

Senate Enrolled Act 255, sponsored this session, aims at addressing school bullying by “ensuring parents are notified of any potential incidents.” The act demands prompt and transparent action from schools regarding incidents of bullying.

Furthermore, Senate Enrolled Act 287 was co-sponsored to enhance transparency in school board elections. It requires candidates to “disclose their political affiliation or state that they are independent or non-partisan,” providing voters more insight into candidates’ positions.

The legislative offices remain open throughout the year to engage with the public. Constituents are encouraged to reach out with their thoughts or concerns and to subscribe to legislative updates via in.gov/h58.
