Congressman Jefferson Shreve, who represents Indiana’s 6th Congressional District, highlighted recent meetings and legislative efforts in a series of tweets posted on July 17 and 18, 2025.

On July 17, Shreve noted the participation of Secretary of Transportation Duffy in a session with the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. He wrote: “We were joined this week by Secretary of Transportation @SecDuffy in @TransportGOP. I asked about the Department’s efforts to strengthen our transportation workforce. I supported legislation that now enables the use of 529 Education Savings Plan dollars to help students pursue” (July 17, 2025).

Later that day, Shreve commented on the presence of soybean growers from Indiana at Capitol Hill. In his tweet he stated: “Our Hoosier Soybean growers were on Capitol Hill this week. Phil Ramsey is from Shelby County in #CD6, and serves farmers across the district on the Shelby County Farm Bureau Board.

I’m working to advance policies that support Indiana’s farm economy.” (July 17, 2025).

On July 18, Shreve referenced a meeting with students from Indiana University’s Hamilton Lugar School while discussing his role on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He tweeted: “IU students from the @hamiltonlugar School were on Capitol Hill. We discussed my work on the @HouseForeignGOP . As an IU alum, I appreciated the opportunity to connect with these bright students. @IndianaUniv is educating the next generation of global leaders!” (July 18, 2025).

Shreve’s activities reflect ongoing congressional engagement with education policy—such as expanding eligible uses for 529 Education Savings Plans—and agricultural advocacy through direct outreach to local farm leaders like those serving on county Farm Bureau boards. The involvement with university students also underscores continued connections between lawmakers and academic institutions within their districts.
