Congressman Jefferson Shreve, who represents Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, has recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative developments and anti-fraud advocacy.
On May 14, 2026, Shreve announced his involvement in the passage of new fuel legislation. In a tweet, he stated: “Year-round E15 is common sense for Hoosiers. I was pleased to cosponsor the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which passed the House last night with bipartisan support. This bill allows year-round E15 gasoline sales nationwide — giving families more fuel” (May 14, 2026). The Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act aims to permit year-round sales of E15 gasoline across the United States.
The following day, on May 15, Shreve shared details about a meeting with Kitboga, a YouTuber known for exposing online scams. Shreve wrote: “I met with @Kitboga in D.C. today. Kitboga is a YouTuber with nearly four million subscribers who has built his platform around exposing scammers and their tactics. He has helped people across the country and around the world recognize scams before they become victims. That work” (May 15, 2026).
Later that same day, Shreve addressed growing concerns about fraud at an event hosted by the Better Business Bureau at Amazon HQ2. He posted: “Scammers are getting smarter — and more dangerous. I spoke at @bbb_us Scam Survivor Day at Amazon HQ2 and heard directly from Americans whose lives were turned upside down by scams and financial fraud. These criminals target seniors, veterans, and vulnerable families every day.” (May 15, 2026).
The issue of consumer protection against scams remains significant nationwide as technology advances and fraudulent schemes evolve to target vulnerable populations such as seniors and veterans.
