Indianapolis Public Schools announced on May 13 the launch of its Back-to-School Supply Drive, calling on the community to help provide essential supplies for students as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

The district said that many families face financial challenges in purchasing school supplies, which can affect student success. The supply drive aims to support hundreds of students by ensuring they have what they need when classes begin.

“By donating to the IPS Back-to-School Supply Drive, you can help hundreds of students start the school year with the tools they need to thrive,” Indianapolis Public Schools said in a statement. The district encouraged supporters to consider picking up extra items while shopping for their own back-to-school needs and noted that “even a small contribution can make a big difference for a student in need.”

Those interested in participating or seeking more information are invited to contact Tiffany Parker, Family and Community Engagement Manager at parkertm@myips.org. Suggested supply lists are available by category, including K-12 teacher lists as well as grade-specific student lists.

Indianapolis Public Schools serves over 30,000 students and provides services through a network of schools and programs focused on academic excellence and relationship-driven education in central Indianapolis, according to the official website. Racial equity is also highlighted as a core strategic priority by the district.

Aleesia Johnson serves as superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools, according to the official website.
