The 2025 legislative session in Indiana concluded with the passage of a two-year state budget, tax relief measures, and other priorities for residents. State Representative Tim Yocum (R-Clinton) announced that the budget includes plans to lower Indiana’s state income tax over the next two years, saving taxpayers more than $200 million annually. Additionally, significant property tax relief and reform legislation was advanced, promising to save Hoosiers $1.3 billion in taxes over the next two years. The budget also prioritizes investments in K-12 education and public safety.
“As a new legislator, I’m proud to have supported a balanced budget that reflects conservative principles and reduces government spending while supporting priorities like education and public safety,” Yocum stated. “It’s a solid foundation we can continue to build on.”
All eight priority items from House Republicans were sent to the Governor’s desk by the end of the session. These include:
– House Enrolled Act 1001: A balanced two-year state budget aimed at making government more efficient while supporting education and public safety.
– House Enrolled Act 1002: Reducing regulations on K-12 schools to increase flexibility for local communities.
– House Enrolled Act 1003: Lowering health care costs by improving transparency in pricing and billing.
– House Enrolled Act 1004: Ensuring nonprofit hospitals focus on delivering health care as nonprofit entities.
– House Enrolled Act 1005: Expanding housing access through the Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program (RIF).
– House Enrolled Act 1006: Creating a review board for prosecutors who refuse to enforce laws.
– House Enrolled Act 1007: Addressing energy economy needs while reducing costs for residents.
– House Enrolled Act 1008: Inviting Illinois counties that voted to secede from their state to join Indiana.
