Congressman Jefferson Shreve has shared updates and reflections on recent events in Indiana through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On February 17, 2026, Shreve addressed a tragic incident involving law enforcement in Beech Grove. In his post, he stated: “I’m saddened by what happened in Beech Grove tonight. Officer Brian Elliot was killed in the line of duty. Another officer was shot and remains hospitalized. This is close to home for a lot of us.

The following day, February 18, 2026, Shreve visited the Indiana Statehouse to meet with both elected officials and interns serving with the Indiana House and Senate. He wrote: “I stopped by the Indiana Statehouse to meet with elected leaders — and the next generation: the Indiana House and Senate interns.

Sharp young people. Good questions. Serious interest in public service. Indiana needs them.

Later that same day, Shreve participated in an event honoring public service leadership at a major gathering of state leaders. He posted: “I joined 500 Hoosier leaders in Indy for the 36th Annual Lugar Series Luncheon. We recognized the Class of 2025–2026 and Senator Lugar’s legacy.

Jefferson Shreve serves as a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s interests at the federal level. The Lugar Series Luncheon referenced by Shreve is an annual event named after former U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar that recognizes emerging leaders across Indiana and honors contributions to public service through awards such as those received by Allison Barber.
