The Indianapolis Colts announced on Mar. 18 the signing of linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither as a free agent.
Davis-Gaither brings experience from his previous seasons in the National Football League, having played for both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Arizona Cardinals. His addition is expected to strengthen the Colts’ defensive lineup.
Davis-Gaither was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. During his five years with the Bengals, he appeared in 88 games, starting 24 times, and accumulated 204 tackles, two interceptions, eleven passes defensed, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and three quarterback hits. He played under Lou Anarumo, who is now serving as the Colts’ defensive coordinator.
In 2025, Davis-Gaither joined the Arizona Cardinals where he played all 17 games and started in 13 of them. That season marked career highs for him with 117 tackles and five passes defensed.
Before entering the NFL, Davis-Gaither played college football at Appalachian State from 2015 to 2019. He was recognized as Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year in his final collegiate season.
The signing adds depth to the Colts’ defense ahead of upcoming competitions.
