The Indianapolis Colts announced on Mar. 12 the signing of free agent defensive end Micheal Clemons.
Clemons, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 National Football League Draft by the New York Jets, spent four seasons with the Jets. During his time there, he played in 65 games and started in 24. He recorded a total of 8.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, and made 119 tackles overall. His most productive season came in 2024 when he achieved a career-high of 4.5 sacks.
Standing at six feet five inches and weighing 263 pounds, Clemons is expected to add size and depth to the Colts’ defensive line. The team said his experience will strengthen their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Clemons is originally from Garland, Texas and played college football at Texas A&M from 2017 to 2021. While at Texas A&M, he was teammates with current Colts linebacker Buddy Johnson in 2020 and cornerback Jaylon Jones from 2020 to 2021. In addition, Clemons played alongside current Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner during their time together with the Jets after both were selected in the team’s draft class of 2022.
The addition of Clemons reflects the Colts’ ongoing efforts to reinforce their defense ahead of next season.
