The Indianapolis Colts announced on Mar. 12 the signing of free agent defensive end Arden Key, strengthening their defensive line with an experienced addition.
Key’s arrival is significant for the Colts as they look to add depth and experience to their defense. The team aims to benefit from his track record across several National Football League teams.
Key, who stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 240 pounds, has played in 116 career games with 46 starts for the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans. Over his career, he has recorded 192 tackles, 39 tackles for loss, eight passes defensed, four forced fumbles, 96 quarterback hits, and 30.5 sacks.
In the most recent season with the Titans in 2025, Key appeared in 12 games—starting nine—and registered four sacks along with 22 tackles, six tackles for loss, and eleven quarterback hits.
Key was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft after a standout college career at Louisiana State University (LSU). At LSU, he set a single-season school record with twelve sacks and earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors in both 2016 and 2017. He played high school football at Hapeville Charter Career Academy in Georgia and was ranked as the number six defensive end prospect in his class.
The addition of Key is expected to provide valuable experience and production to the Colts’ defensive front as preparations begin for the upcoming season.
