The Indianapolis Colts announced on Mar. 16 that they have re-signed veteran tight end Mo Alie-Cox.
Alie-Cox has been with the Colts for eight seasons, playing in 125 games and starting in 53 of them. He has recorded 127 receptions for 1,550 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. While his receiving numbers are notable, Alie-Cox is primarily known for his role as a physical blocker in the run game, contributing to many successful plays for running back Jonathan Taylor.
At age 32, Alie-Cox is now the second-longest tenured member of the team, following long snapper Luke Rhodes who joined in 2016. Alie-Cox originally signed with the Colts’ practice squad in 2017 and made his NFL debut a year later. Since the start of the 2019 season, he has missed only one game due to injury and currently holds a streak of appearing in 95 consecutive regular season games—the second-longest active streak among offensive players in the league behind Atlanta Falcons left tackle Jake Matthews.
With this new contract, Alie-Cox will remain part of a tight end group that includes Tyler Warren, who was selected by the Colts in the first round of the 2025 draft; Drew Ogletree, who recently re-signed; and Will Mallory, a fifth-round pick from 2023.
Alie-Cox’s path to professional football is unique as he did not play football during college. Instead, he played basketball at Virginia Commonwealth University where he helped lead his team to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
