The Indianapolis Colts announced on May 8 the initial jersey numbers assigned to their selections from the 2026 National Football League Draft.
The announcement is significant for fans and team followers, as it reveals which numbers the new players will wear during their rookie seasons. This information also connects new players with past Colts who have worn the same numbers.
Linebacker CJ Allen will wear No. 53, a number last worn by Germaine Pratt in 2025. Notable former Colts to have worn No. 53 include Shaquille Leonard (2018-2023), Ray Donaldson (1980-1992), and Stan White (1972-1979).
Safety A.J. Haulcy has been assigned No. 25, following Rodney Thomas II who wore it from 2022 to 2025. Previous holders of this number include Marlon Mack (2017-2021), Nick Harper (2001-2006), and Nesby Glasgow (1979-1987).
Guard Jalen Farmer will take No. 62, previously worn by Wesley French in the past two seasons, while Bryce Boettcher will don No. 50 after Segun Olubi’s tenure from 2022 to 2025.
Defensive end George Gumbs Jr. receives No. 52, which was most recently Samson Ebukam’s number between 2023 and 2025; Caden Curry is set to wear No. 55, last used by Chad Muma in the previous season.
Running back Seth McGowan gets No. 20—previously Nick Cross’s number—and wide receiver Deion Burks takes over No. 80 from Jelani Woods.
These assignments provide a sense of continuity for fans familiar with team history and offer an early glimpse at how new players fit into longstanding traditions.
