On May 5, 2025, Carson emphasized the affordability of access to fact-based news and educational content for every American, stating “It only costs $1.60 per person for every American to have access to fact-based news and educational content.” He advocated for public broadcasting by linking it with support for children’s educational programming and information dissemination during natural disasters.
In a subsequent tweet dated May 6, 2025, Carson criticized the impact of previous administration policies on individuals wrongfully detained. He stated “An Indy man has spent the last 2 months wrongfully detained because of the Trump administration’s cruel and callous policies.” Carson called upon the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice to rectify this situation promptly.
The following day, May 7, 2025, Carson turned his attention to fiscal matters by criticizing a proposed Republican budget plan. André Carson has served in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008 after serving briefly on the Indianapolis City-County Council.
