André Carson, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, has shared several statements on social media concerning current political and social issues. Known for his active engagement with the community and dedication to public service, Carson uses these platforms to address his constituents directly.

On May 8, 2025, Carson criticized the Republican Party’s legislative priorities in a tweet. He stated, “What are Republicans doing today? Not lowering costs. Not creating jobs. They’re not even promoting ‘efficiency.’ They’re trying to rename the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. It’s theater, not real governing.”

The following day, May 9, 2025, Carson highlighted efforts to recognize women veterans through an award from his office in another post. He announced the recipient of the Sheila Corcoran Hoosier Women Hero Award: “Women veterans often go unrecognized, which is why my office’s Sheila Corcoran Hoosier Women Hero Award honors outstanding women veterans in our community. Congrats to Kay Ross for receiving this month’s award!”

Later that day, Carson addressed Indiana’s decision regarding federal funding for children’s meals during summer in a tweet. He expressed concern over the state’s refusal: “Indiana’s state government refused to accept federal money to provide kids with free meals during the summer. By opting out, the state is denying money that was set aside for Indiana and denying food to our kids.”

André Carson was born in Indianapolis in 1974 and has served in Congress since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008. Before this role, he was part of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007-2008.
