André Carson, a current U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district, has been vocal on social media about his legislative efforts and personal tributes. On May 21, 2025, Carson addressed several issues through a series of tweets, including budgetary concerns and a tribute to a fellow congressman.

In a tweet from May 21, 2025, at 09:22 UTC, Carson challenged the GOP’s claims regarding their budget bill’s impact on Medicaid. He stated, “The GOP continues to insist their budget bill won’t hurt Medicaid. I say—prove it.” Carson highlighted the timing of the House Rules Committee meeting that commenced at 1 a.m., where he offered an amendment aimed at protecting healthcare.

Later that day at 14:52 UTC, Carson paid homage to Rep. Gerry Connolly, describing him as “a beloved father, husband, friend, and public servant.” He praised Connolly for his staunch defense of federal workers amidst increasing challenges and committed alongside his Democratic colleagues to continue this fight in Connolly’s honor.

At 17:50 UTC on the same day, Carson expressed his determination to testify for his amendment concerning Medicaid protection. He noted his willingness to wait for extended periods if necessary by stating, “I’ve been waiting since 3 AM to testify on my amendment to the budget to protect Medicaid. I’ll wait all night if I have to.”

André Carson has served in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008 and has represented Indiana’s 7th District since then. Prior to Congress, he was part of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007-2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and educated at Concordia University Wisconsin with a BA in 2003, Carson continues to reside in Indianapolis.
