However, he noted disparities within the state: “But we still have so much work to do – in Marion County, infant mortality for Black infants is nearly twice the state average.” He emphasized his efforts to secure funding for relevant programs.

André Carson has served in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008. Before his congressional tenure, he was part of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and holding a BA from Concordia University Wisconsin since 2003, Carson continues to reside in his hometown.
