André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, used his social media platform to address a range of national and international issues in a series of posts made on October 13 and 14, 2025.

On October 13, Carson highlighted the federal government’s historical shortcomings toward Indigenous communities, stating, “Our nation has a long history of failing Indigenous communities, and it’s our duty to do better. On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, I remain dedicated to supporting policies that protect tribal lands, uphold sovereignty, and advance tribal programs.”

Later the same day, Carson commented on developments in the Middle East, noting reunifications among families affected by conflict. He wrote, “I’m heartened to see so many Palestinian and Israeli civilians reunited with their families. This is a moment of joy and relief to so many—but thousands in Gaza are still at risk without the immediate surge of aid. We can’t lose sight of what needs to happen next: aid,” emphasizing ongoing humanitarian needs.

On October 14, Carson criticized the high costs associated with basic health insurance in the United States. He stated, “$17,000 more just to pay for basic health insurance is insane. I don’t know if my Republican colleagues understand what it’s like to not be able to afford healthcare.”

Carson’s career in public service began with his tenure on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008 before his election to Congress, where he succeeded Julia Carson. Born in Indianapolis in 1974, Carson continues to reside there. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Wisconsin.
