Central Connecticut State Opens Weekend with 6-5 Win over Butler

The Butler baseball team took a 6-5 loss to CCSU this afternoon to move their overall record to 2-7. Boston College graduate transfer Ramon Jimenez hit three home runs to lift the Blue Devils to victory. With the loss, the Bulldogs are now 0-4 in one run games.

Each team hit a home run in the first inning. Joey Urban remains locked in for BU and homered for the fourth time this season with a shot to center. Jimenez would counter with a two-run bomb down the line in right.

BU was able to regain the lead in the fourth. Scott Jones hit a triple to score Urban and a groundout by Carter Dorighi would result in an RBI to score Jones.

Joe Rios homered in the fourth to tie the contest at 3-3 and Jimenez would return to the plate with a round-tripper to give CCSU a 5-3 lead.

Urban scored an unearned run for BU in the sixth to make the game 5-4, but Jimenez homered for the third time in the seventh to left center. The solo shot was huge as BU added a single run in the eighth. The comeback was not complete however as Luke Garofalo entered the game for the save.

Cory Bosecker struck out seven over five full innings and only walked two, but he was hit with the loss while the win went to Dominic Niman.
